How to Submit a Deletion Request
To request deletion of your account and all associated data from Chatsmo, follow these steps:

1Compose an email — Send your request to admin@chatsmo.com with the subject line: "Data Deletion Request".

2Include your identity details — Provide your registered mobile number or email address used to sign up for Chatsmo so we can locate your account accurately.

3Specify your request (optional) — Let us know if you want full account deletion or only specific data removed (e.g., chat history only). If not specified, we will delete all data associated with your account.

4Receive confirmation — Our team will acknowledge your request by email within 2 business hours and complete the deletion within 7 working days.

What Data Is Deleted
Upon receiving a valid deletion request, we will permanently remove the following data from our systems:
Data deletion is irreversible. Once processed, we cannot recover your account information, message history, templates, or any other deleted data. Please ensure you have exported any records you may need before submitting your request.
What May Be Retained
In certain limited circumstances, we may be required to retain some data even after a deletion request. This is only where legally required or necessary for legitimate business purposes:
- Financial & billing records — Transaction history and invoices may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Indian tax and accounting regulations (GST compliance).
- Legal obligations — Data that must be preserved under applicable law, court order, or regulatory requirement.
- Fraud prevention — Anonymised or aggregated data used solely to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, where no personal identification is possible.
- Active dispute resolution — Data relevant to an ongoing dispute, complaint, or claim until the matter is resolved.
Any retained data is strictly limited to what is legally required, stored securely, and deleted as soon as the retention period expires. We will inform you in our confirmation email if any data must be retained and the reason why.
Deletion Timeline
Here is what happens after you submit your deletion request:

Once your data deletion is complete:
- Your account will be permanently deactivated and cannot be reactivated.
- Your login credentials will no longer work on the Chatsmo platform.
- Any WhatsApp integrations connected through your account will be disconnected.
- Active API tokens and keys will be immediately invalidated — any systems using them will stop working.
- You will receive a final deletion confirmation email as proof of completion.
- If you wish to use Chatsmo again in the future, you will need to create a new account.
We recommend exporting your data before submitting a deletion request — including message templates, contact lists, and any reports you may need for your records. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered.
